You work in a formal environment but still want to have something
unique about you and be more approachable. So why not go for the
“ALMOST FORMAL” look. Combine a jean and sneakers with a smart shirt
and jacket. This look is nothing new, but it’s really making a
statement now. This look is also very fashionable for weddings, nights
out etc. So you can go from work to play in seconds. Just take of the
tie you had on at work and you have your evening look.
The really “IN” thing to do is to wear shorts with your jacket.
Although most companies in South Africa might not like the idea, this
might be ideal for a night out.
Fashion Tips Summer 2010

Fashion tips for the
South African woman
I get asked a lot about accessories, what shoes to wear, what
colour goes with what. So let me give
you a few tips.
Shoes: Choice a colour from the dress / top you are wearing. If
it has purple, pink and green print, any of those colours will do. To be safe,
you can also choose a neutral colour like black, silver or gold.
Bags: If you like colour coding, stick with the rule as with the
shoes, but don’t colour code the bag if you do colour code the shoes. It might
just look a bit too flashy. It can be done, but to be safe, rather not. So if
you colour code your shoes, use a neutral colour for your bag, but if you have
neutral shoes, you can colour code the bag.
Earrings: Earrings can be very tricky as well, so I would suggest
neutral colour earrings, unless you are Aggie from 7de Laan. Big, Chandelier earrings
are in now, so go wild with the earrings.
The HOT items to have this season:
* Super high heels (if you can walk with it, please don’t try if
you can’t!). If you are like me and can’t – go for Tommy Tekkies, they go with
everything right now.
* Colourful sunglasses, get one in each colour from your local
Vibes or Mr Price
* Smaller necklaces, the big bulky stuff our out at the moment
* Big, bulky rings are very hot right now.
* Headbands are in again. Go look for those ones you have thrown
into the back of the closet.
* Bangles are in and a must with every outfit.
* Hats are in, especially the Panama hat.

* Thank goodness thin belts are back and the thick ones out!
So go on, use these items and don’t be afraid to make a
statement that is truly YOU!
